French Toast Sticks

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

It’s no secret, breakfast foods are some of my favorite foods. I love pancakes, waffles, and I love French toast. As much as I love French toast in its regular form, there’s something super fun about French toast sticks to me! Being able to dip them in the syrup and eat them with your hands are just two of the reasons I love them.

Another reason is that when they’re paired with the cinnamon sugar mixture you have a super delicious treat that tastes reminiscent of a cinnamon sugar donut! They’re bursting with flavor with cinnamon sugar in every bite. These are also perfect for an on-the-go breakfast. They come together with minimal ingredients and are the perfect way to start your day!

Ingredients:

  • Sourdough Bread
  • Eggs
  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Butter

How to Make French Toast Sticks:

Slice the sourdough into thick slices – my bread made six sticks per slice of bread.

Whisk together eggs and cinnamon in a bowl.

Place a large pan over medium heat and add 1/2 tbsp of butter. Spread butter evenly around the pan as it’s heating up.

While the pan is heating, make your cinnamon sugar mixture.

To a plate, mix together your cinnamon and sugar until it’s fully combined. Set aside.

Dip the sticks in the egg mixture and coat fully, letting the excess drip off before placing in the pan.

Cook on each side for 2-3 minutes or until toasted and no longer soggy. I like to turn the sticks on their sides to cook as well if needed.

Depending on the size of your pan you may need to work in two batches. If so, use the other 1/2 tbsp of butter if needed.

Remove from pan and immediately place in cinnamon sugar mixture and fully coat on all sides. *Feel free to omit the cinnamon sugar step if you prefer but I highly recommend it!

Serve with maple syrup and enjoy!
