Servings 12 French Toast Sticks
French Toast Sticks
- 2 slices sourdough bread
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 - 1 tbsp butter
Cinnamon Sugar Mixture
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Slice the sourdough bread into thick slices - my bread made six sticks per slice of bread.
Whisk together the eggs and cinnamon in a bowl.
Place a large pan over medium heat and add 1/2 tbsp of butter. Spread butter evenly around the pan as it’s heating up.
While the pan is heating, make your cinnamon sugar mixture.
To a plate, mix together your cinnamon and sugar until it‘s fully combined. Set aside.
Dip the sticks in the egg mixture and coat fully, letting the excess drip off before placing them in the pan.
Cook on each side for 2-3 minutes or until toasted and no longer soggy. I like to turn the sticks on their sides to cook as well if needed.
Depending on the size of your pan you may need to work in two batches. If so, use the other 1/2 tbsp of butter if needed.
Remove from pan and immediately place in cinnamon sugar mixture and fully coat on all sides.
Serve with maple syrup and enjoy!
This recipe yields 12 French toast sticks. You can half or double/etc. this recipe as needed depending on how many you’re serving.
Feel free to omit the cinnamon sugar mixture but I highly recommend it!
