Penne alla Vodka

This penne alla vodka is a delicious blend of flavors of onion, garlic, and basil in a rich, creamy tomato sauce. It’s the perfect dinner when you’re craving pasta!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb penne pasta Feel free to use your favorite type of pasta
  • 1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
  • 50 ml mini vodka bottle
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2-3 leaves fresh basil

Instructions
 

  • Start by chopping the onion and basil and mincing the garlic and set aside.
  • Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat on the stove. Add in onion and garlic and sautee until translucent, approximately 10 minutes.
  • Add in red chili flakes and vodka and stir. Simmer for approximately 10 minutes or so to reduce the vodka.
  • Add in the crushed tomatoes and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Optional Step: Use an immersion blender at this point if you want a smoother consistency.
  • Reduce heat to low/medium and add the heavy cream and stir. Simmer for approximately 30 minutes.
  • While your sauce is simmering, boil your water for the pasta and cook according to package instructions.
  • Add your pasta and basil to the sauce and stir to fully combine.
  • Enjoy!
